Hi about 6 months ago i fitted a starter ring gear to a volvo l70c for a customer of mine. It had broken and missing teeth. It was the first job i did for them so i dont know much history of it except they said it chewed threw a few starters. All went well 6 months down the road the new ring gear is the same if not worse id estimate that half the teeth are missing. The pinion on the starter doesnt look too bad but i dont know what else could be causing it? I found a loose connection on the starter that if wiggled around it would engage the starter so i think this might be the problem but the fact that the pinoion isint too badly marked is throwing me off can anybody shed any light on it? It was a genuine volvo ring gear and the starter has the correct number of teeth on the pinion.
