case 621b

My mulch guy is selling his 621b with about 12k hrs. 2nd owner. Anything to watch out for? Said he put new turbo on last year.

Is it possible to put a quick coupler on this machine? All my sectional snow pushers are on quick couplers and do much better that way. If it's possible, any idea on cost?

Guy says he'd let it go for less than 20k. Decent deal it seems?

Is this hydraulic system open or closed?
What is the best way to add a 3rd spool to add a grapple rake.
This machine only has a two spool valve.
I have found a Prince 3 spool valve for loaders that looks like it will work but how do I determine if its an open or closed system?

Was working at a sister quarry on a starting problem of a D6D Dozer yesterday. While there one of the operators mentioned that the older 988B Cat loader there used off and on had a small problem. This machine would not shut down when key was turned off. I asked what the did to stop it. Was told that they just stall it by bottoming out the hydraulics. Did not seem like a good idea to me at first then after thinking about it over night when I went back this morning I asked the operator what he was going to do if he has a hydraulic hose fail on the machine:eek: I did suggest he check to see if the machine could be stopped by the old method of just pulling the foot peddle back, I know if everything is working right on these old 988B's this will work. I also showed him where the shaft comes out of the governor that also can be used to manually "kill" the engine. I was not able to check these things out while there as they were in the middle of changing oils and filters so engine could not be started.

What gets me is this is at a major world wide company that is always talking the talk about "Safety First". I could understand if this was a down on his luck farmer or logger but I can never understand why a company like this thinks doing things like this is OK.:Banghead

We have trouble in Europe with a CAT 966K engine , in fact for any reason the 345-7645 exhaust cooler broke inside , and the coolant went into the engine and blocked the engine and the exhaust pressure blown the 417-5127 engine coolant cooler . We have another 5 machines with the same engine and coolers , we would like to know if it is a common fault on those engines because we have some D6T's , 966K's , 972K with the same engine and we would want to know how to prevent such problems

980H with ride control. Lift cylinders drift. Resealed both lift cylinders. Replaced load lift check valve. Replaced ride control shuttle valve. Replaced O-rings on ride control balance valve. Removed both ride control solenoid valves and energized on bench, OK. Inspected control valve spool centering springs on main control valve and ride control valve, OK. Tested pilot oil pressure, OK. Checked dead engine lift lowering ball valve @ RS of articulation joint. Anybody else have this problem? If so, what did you end up doing to fix it?

CAT 950F II multiple issues

Hi guys,

I need help with some issues iam having with my 1997 CAT 950F II loader, first off i cannot stop the engine after i have finished working with the machine by simply turning the ignition key to the off position! instead i have to either raise the boom to the max or lower it to the ground and keep pushing on the raise/lower lever! this issue started few days after i removed and rebuilt the engine, before that it would crank and shut off normally using the ignition key.
The second issue happens when i raise the boom for the first time after i start the machine, once i let the lift lever go the boom instantly drops about a foot and then it holds position, also when i fully raise the boom with an empty bucket and shut the engine off, it would start dropping down slowly without noise til it hits the ground but it happens within 8-10 hours, and in both cases they happen regardless if the machine is cold or warm.
The third and last issue is that this machine was used to load Sulfur prior to me purchasing it, and so the frame is covered with an inch thick of Sulfur, as well as all the wires and cables/electrical connections are covered with this stuff, which caused lots of rust on the lower cab area and cab filters access doors, and I've had to replace many bad wires due to this issue, my question is what's the best way to clean this stuff off? needless to say that i had few sore eyes nights and went through few types of goggles until i finally realized it's not gonna happen the easy way.. any eyes-saving tips ppl :bash

interior color code for a Deere 544G ?

I bought a 1993 544G and wanting to touch up some of the semi gloss interior tan/brown color and no dealer seems to know what color it is. I had one tell me to use a TY 25605 but that is much to light. I'd like to find the darker brown color that is on the plastic panel around the joystick and switches too. Anyone know what the colors are?

Ford A64 Trans removal

Hi, I am putting new 2nd gear clutch disc's in the allison tt 2221-1 trans in a Ford A64 wheel loader. I removed the trans and engine together, by removing the rad and counter weight and lifting it from under the cab out the back. I didnt like how that went, my question is, does it come out another way? do i lift off the cab? (although it seems like alot more work) or do you unbolt the engine and pull it first, then pull the tranny? or is what i did the way to do it? Thanks

1978 980B slow building air pressure

Hi guys, new to the site and happy to have found it.

We have a ole cat 980B that is in fair condition. I run it through the spring, summer, fall months making topsoil. Its my baby & nobody likes to run it because they are spoiled with more modern loaders..lol
Question, over the last year it takes a long time to build air pressure. If im in a hurry I push the rpms up to assist. I drain the tank often getting out water mist and tiny bit of oil in spray. I have checked for air leaks and am good there.
Would like to take care of this before topsoil season kicks in..ideas? Thanks

Cat 992g engine smothers under load.. kind off

We have a 992 g that sometimes runs fine ,and sometimes the engine smothers under load.
This usually happens when the machine is getting warmer , and when riding and hoisting , but mostly hoisting is killing the engine.
Now the local dealer wants to pull the engine , but I have the feeling that it is something of a sensor or sensing problem.
Because the engine is not smoking when it nearly dies, I'm thinking hey the e.c.u. or something else is not letting the engine getting enough fuel.

Anyone had this problem or similar?
