I have a 1963 Hough H50B Gas Job, and I want to do a transmission service on it since it hasn't been done in the 15 years I have had it. Does anyone know a part # or filter that work for this transmission I could use? Doesn't matter what brand filter it is. I know its a paper cartridge style filter. Also how often should the planetary hubs be serviced, drain and refilled? I Know I haven't serviced them in the 15 years Ive had it. And who knows if it was done before I got it. I estimate this machine has between 2000 to 4000 Hours on it. Meter broke before I got it.Thanks any other tips or info on this machine would be appreciated.

JD 544C Hard Brakes
Our 544C has a hard brake pedal when cold. When we leave inside in heated shop it is fine.
When out side and cold we can take a torch and lightly heat the brake valve and brakes work until cold again. Sounds like the brake valve is bad. As soon as it gets cold, hard pedal and no brakes again.

Hydraulic drive
I am building a 4 wheel drive hydrostatic driven 4 wheeler. The question that I have is I would like to make sure that equal hydraulic fluid go's to the front hydraulic motor as the rear hydraulic motors. I have 4 hydraulic motors and a hydrostatic drive to power them. It looks like I will need a divider valve to make this work. Do I use a pressure divider valve or a gear divider valve? Also will the hydraulic fluid just pass through the return line. There will be a divider valve on the forward line and the reverse line.
Thanks
Marcus

644E transmission suction screen.
Well I think I found some bits of 4th gear, some gaskets, maybe a cricket or two and some other bits.
there were very few metallic flakes, nothing magnetic that I could tell, some very hard black chips and some smaller not so hard ones, you could grind them into dust with finger pressure. There was a little glitter to the transmission fluid but not much at all. The screen had a fair bit of debris and there was some near the screen, that was a real bear to clean out, nothing would stick to the magnet so a finger followed by a paper towel wound around the end of a screwdriver, push and wiggle and turn to get more bits out, then added a half gallon and let it wash some more out the hole. The intake screen was cleaned and brushed and prodded and cleaned again, new filter and 4 gallons of fluid added.
The report on the transmission fluid from Blackstone wasn't bad, but next to new fluid it sure looked dirty!
Thankfully it doesn't take much fluid to change it and hopefully it'll last a good long time! Looks like fun to change a transmission! Park it over a big hole in the ground and undo all the bolts!

Looking to upgrade
Im looking to possibly replace my old Hough loader at some point. I was thinking of going with Caterpillar because of reputation and parts availability. Id like a machine maybe from the late 60s to the late 70s. Does anyone know what a comparable machine would be to my H50? Also does anyone know the weight of the H50?

05 volvo l60e transmission problem
hey guys. couldn't pass up this deal. I got a 05 Volvo l60e. 4 speed power shift. reverse in all 4 gears is great. full power. I have nothing in all 4 forward gears. on level ground if you engage in forward it will creep a tiny tiny bit if you whack the throttle but barely. it's engaging on the computer. all the solenoids on the side of the transmission are working properly. checked voltage and resistance on them. I have yet to check lube or main pressure. that's going to be in the next few days. can anyone point me in right direction or tell me what I'm in for possibly. I'm stuck between melted clutch pack or bad gear selector valve. the machine only has 2500 hours. confirmed by the dealer.....

Flipping/Tipping a loader?
How hard or easy is it to flip a loader when stockpiling/pushing up or driving up a pile of C&D debris?(rear wheels stay on solid ground)
I know with a heavy load raised bucket and uneven ground or going full turn can tip it
We use Volvo 120's & 220's , cat 980m all with solid rubber

Caterpillar PUMP strange problem, damaged pump two times ???
Hello everyone,
We are expecting problems with the hydraulic Vane pump of a CAT wheel loader. We have changed it for two times about every 1000 working hours (from the last change) because it has structural damage mainly in the rotor and port place seizures. Pump number is 146-5076 and serial number of the truck is 3BS00338 of Caterpillar 962G.
Can anyone please help in determining what can be the problem that damages this pump. Pump has been changed from Caterpillar official dealer with original parts?
Thanks in advance

Clark 75C has reverse but no forward
Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can help me out. Recently purchased a SN 495A304CB Clark 75C w/ Detroit Diesel 4 - 71 Turbo.
We were able to run the machine for a bit both forward and reverse no problem. After sitting for three months it will only move in reverse. Trans fluid is registering full on the sight glass, brakes release. When shiffting into "F", there is no sound at all as if nothing is engageing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Old Tractor with a steerable Rockwell rear end
This ROCKWELL rear end is a model PS 251 HX 12---Near the knuckle where the wheel turns there is a big rubber seal that keeps the oil in the rear differential----this rubber seal is damaged.
Was wondering if any of you good folk have been into these and what it takes to get into the area to replace the rubber seal.
This machine is a 1964 Mississippi Road Service-- I 80 These tractors were used to pull rear PANS for loading dirt.
