Cheap Coupler Upgrade?

Hi all, I have a Cat 928G with a pin on 3 yd bucket. What are my options for upgrading to having a coupler. I understand I need to make adjustments to my current bucket to fit onto the coupler. A JRB hydraulic coupler costs $5800. Are there any non-hydraulic but rather manual couplers? I know there are some for excavators. Ultimately I'd like to have my current bucket, a light material 5 yd bucket and forks at my disposal. I don't want to spend 20-25k on all that. Thanks for your advice.

Looking to buy a Loader. Advice?

Looking to buy an older loader for moving rock and dirt on my own property. Found a few old John Deeres ranging from 444b, 544a, 3 644s and a 94 Case 621b. Case is newest with lowest hours but has trans issues. Owner thinks it needs rebuild. From what I have researched it may be electrical. 444b is at local dealer and is ex municipal with forks, quick attach and new tires and chains. 544a is an old farm machine that looks like it was restored and hasnt seen much use since 1990. 644s range from late 70s to late 80s. 2 need work. Diff troubles. Newest one seems good but long haul (cost) to bring home. Leaning toward the case. Second cheapest, newest and may be not bad to fix. 444 may be too small lifting wise for what I want to do. The 544 while looking nice may just be too old. 644d seems ok but very far away to look at and has 15K hrs+ on all original components with newer pins. Any thoughts from those of you with experience? This would be my first loader. Repairs dont scare me unless the Case needs a new trans(big$). TIA

Loader tire size interchangeability

Have a Case 621B loader and it has 20.5-25 tires on it. I have 2 new sets of tires but not that size. I have a set of 17.5-25 which I have also seen on this size of loader and I have a set of 23.5-25 tires. Will either size of these tires fit on the current rims. Tires currently on are Michelin but have lots of tread and case age cracking and the others are new tires. would like to fit the larger ones if I could. Have lots of clearance to fenders.

Cat 980g loader problems

I have 980 g. 2kr01589. Got the machine this summer and have not had real good luck so far we put 32 hours on it and the motor locked up so we got that back together and now I can not get the loader to function right. Take 3-10 seconds before it will start to lift the bucket or curls. Loader arms will lower right away to the ground but then takes the same amount of time to pick the front end of the ground. At a idle when you bottom ou the hydraulics it will stall the motor. I have check the hose clams a couple times on the suction lines. And I can sit and press the brake pedal for a minute and no pressure lights came on the dash. The only other thing that I can think of is that after it sitting for 10 minutes the oil level goes up in the hydraulic tank and when you come back th next day it will be full all the way to the top of the filler cap. Normal or not? Any ideas where to go from here thanks

we have a Pettibone 285-ad and need help with brake problems AND transmission oil pressure....we know nothing about this kind of brake system...

this thing has set for several yrs and the motor starts and runs and the hydraulics all work very well

we have no brakes can anyone tell us what to look for first? the air pressure is very good the left hand foot pedal stops the transmission but will not activate the brakes. The foot pedal beside the accelerator spits out a burst of air when activated just like other loader with air brakes..

I am sure after we get these 2 problems fixed we will have other problems along the way

also we sure would like to find a manual or PDF file that is a manual for this machine

waiting to hear from anyone.

Hello heavy equipment dudes. I have a old 1963 Hough H50B wheel loader. I've been searching and searching for a place that could be a parts connection for me for this old machine but have had no luck. What have you all done over the years with your Hough loaders? Are there still parts available? Or is everyone jury rigging everything and hoping it works and can get it through another year. Please tell me what you all have done with your Hough wheel loaders, since Hough went out of business long ago. Thanks.

Caterpillar IT38G 4th gear lock out?

Hello, I have just acquired an IT38G wheel loader/tool carrier. It drives and operates well. has about 16,000 hours on it.
But I cannot get it to move into 4th gear. ( forward or reverse)
Its strong in all other gears, and moves quite smoothly up and down. But rev it out in 3rd, click to 4th and it just stays in 3rd.
I am wondering if it may have had a lock out set up for 4th as a safety precaution in its last life.
If so how do you reverse this?
thanks in advance.

I have a stump dump/Mulch Yard. I need a loader to pile the brush and stumps and to load Mulch/compost/dirt. I need to be able to pile brush and stumps as high as possible. Also need to be able to load a dump trailer that is about 12' tall (I might build a ramp to load trailer) I was thinking about a brush grapple to stack brush and stumps, so I would want a hydraulic coupler and aux ports.

I also do grading/excavating, but do not have a detach, so 10.5' cab height would be max I could haul with my tilt top. I would use it occasionally on grading and clearing jobs when it wasn't too busy at the Mulch Yard.

Was also considering a snow plow to plow mountain gravel roads. I have about 15 miles of road to plow.

I see a lot of Komatsu wa250-5 loaders going for about 35k with under 10k hrs...are these good machines? Any others to look at for around $35k?

Loader Comp Test Help!

I have to take the Journey Comp Test on a Cat Loader this week, I need to build a ramp that leads into a 20 x 30' pad that's about 2-3' in depth. Building the ramp is the easy part and I know to build out beyond the stakes, but I'm not real confident on how to go about spreading the material from the ramp out. My thoughts were to dump just at the edge of the ramp until I have enough to level my bucket and push it a bit, dump and continue. Any suggestion? I also have to wheel roll the whole thing and try to match the grade to the stake ribbons.

Thanks so much!
