Fuel or Air ? Help!

Hi All, New here and need help now. 1979 Michigan 85GMIIIA Detroit 6v71-New Batteries and spins great will not start. I have mechanical experience and have been operating since '79. I've owned this rock for 8 years and know it pretty well or so I thought? I was plowing snow and stopped for a break, leaving the machine idling for about 15 minutes, jumped back on it and traveled about 100 feet and got steady black smoke from exhaust pipe, then it shut down. No start. Pulled both fuel canisters and changed filters. Canisters had Ice in them so I removed it by thawing it and rinsing out and drying them. New fuel filters were installed. I primed the canisters (filled them and let them soak then topped them off) then installed. I did not replace the rubber o-ring seals, & only one of the fiber washers for the bolts. Also while putting the canisters up I spilled some fuel out. Do you think the filters should come off and topped off & re-installed with new rubbers. I didnt mix the filters up but may have spilled out too much fuel? Does changing the o-rings matter? Also the little cam on the front of the blower is set in its notch for the engine to run, if you know what I mean..Can I have some advise on getting "Bessie" going? I really need her to move some snow here at our family business? Thanks too al!!!

John Deere 544 J. Issues

This machine is experiencing intermittent lose of steering pressure, bumping the lift joystick will bring the steering back. I could not find any kind of steering priority valve. So I am having difficulty finding the connection between the pilot system and the steering load sense. There is a hose that comes off the main control valve to the steering motor, this I assume is the steering load sense line. Is it possible that the pump is not getting the signal from steer valve until the load sense is activated by a lift function and what could cause this? Also losing reverse gear from time to time, shifting to neutral back to reverse and it goes into gear. I would suspect an intermittent open circuit to reverse solonoid or gear selector. Any help would be much appreciated.

Case w20B bucket tilt cylinder rebuild

Im in the process if repacking the bucket tilt cylinders on my w20B. once i got into the cylinder i found the metal ring inside the gland nut was broken into 3 pieces. Through case the only way to get this part is to buy the whole gland nut at 400 bucks. Has anyone had any experience with these? im thinking of machining my own ring but im not sure if it has any load carrying duties or if it is just a spacer for the seal.

transmission problem and produces low power to unit, we check the transmission and replaced transmission control valve. after testing we found out that it does have a hissing sound from transmission. We also replaced seal rings and outer & inner disc of transmission first and second gear, also forward/reverse clutches. Glad if you can give us your recommendation to our problem.

Bobcat 853 Fuel Problem

Hi, new to site. Thanx in advance for any help. Here is the sitch. One day my Bobcat is running fine. The next day suddenly the throddle is responding funny. Was doing some aggresive side to side grading work when problem started. It idles down and shudders as if it is going to die. Also, when I push the throddle forward, it takes several seconds to actually throddle up. First thing I tried was replacing the fuel filter and bleeding out air. No change. Second, I topped off tank, (although it was half full when problem started). These things did not fix problem. I'm thinking it is hose or filter going into fuel tank based on my forum research so far. What do you think, and if I am right, how the hell do I access this area for repare? Please don't say remove tank and/or hydraulic pump!

1968 Case 580 CK Question "S" position

I have been restoring a Case 580CK Loader Backhoe, of which is going pretty good considering that I mostly work on old Fords, Worthington, Jacobson and Fergusons. That said ... I am boggled by the purpose of the "S" position on the transmission shifter. I have a power-shuttle/hydraulic clutch all of which works well as does the 188 diesel engine. I just cannot find any information for the use of "S" position on the transmission, when engaged I hear something powering up. Is this a flywheel load for the engine, when the backhoe is in use?

Thank you,

Peter-S

Can someone please tell me how to undo the transmission cap on the bell housing. It is very tight & I do not want to damage it by assuming that it is threaded. Thanks in advance.

Plowing a couple weeks ago and all of a sudden the engine shut down. Still had lights and heat going in the cab with the key forward. Went to crank engine and it cranked but wouldn't fire. Got out and saw that the actuator for the fuel rail was in the closed position. got a strap and tied it open and it fired right up. Been starting the engine like this until I finally got a chance to pull it in the garage last week. I have no power going to the actuator with the key on or just bumping the engine over. All fuses are good. I checked all the diodes by using a new one and replacing each one, one at a time. I am not exactly sure if I am even in the right spot. Last time I had a similar problem it ended up being the switch in the left battery box. But when that failed, the engine wouldn't even turn over. Any suggestions?

Hi guys, Ive been looking for a shut off solenoid for a 966D Serial 99y04861, it has a 3306 engine. Even my Caterpillar dealer has given me a part number but it wont just fit in. Just wondering if you have seen it before, or might know what is going on here. Flange shape is really weird. It seems impossible to find as I have been looking for some days now, without any succes.

966G trans to torque housing leak

$

On this 966G 11 (ANT prefix) there is oil leaking near the top of the transmission between the trans and torque housing while it is running. It is near the oil line 157-1338 coming from the filter and feeds the control valve. I suspect it may be a small o ring 4F-7389 between the torque housing and trans that may be the culprit....is it possible to just remove the bolts that hold the trans and torque housing together and trans mount bolts and slide them apart just enough to replace the O ring without removing the whole trans and torque? The cab is removed already.

721d case misses

We have a 721d case loader. It is a 2003 model, it has had engine missing problems for quite awhile. We can get blink codes for electrical problems with all injectors. All injectors have been replaced and now it is worse off than before. Will run ok then start missing and eventually die. Ecu has been swapped with sister machine and still same problem. Countless fuel filters changed. I suspect the fuel pressure sensor on the rail or there is another one on the fuel pump that might be bad. Have had a dealer look at it but they said their computer would not connect so they were not much help. First time here and I am going to try to take a picture of the tag on the motor hope it makes it to the post. Any help would be appreciated because we are not very framilar with common rail fuel injection. Thanks again.

Case 621B XT - NO BRAKES

$

Hi there - new here and hoping for some knowledge sharing

My current project is restoring a 2008 FEL that I have acquired from work. (it has been badly salt corroded by the product it was moving).

It has been sitting dormant for 5 years and I managed to get the engine running and most of the hydraulics. Apparently all run before it was parked.
I do have a 621B schematic manual but only a 621 service manual...

The unit has had numerous hose issues (ie: corroded - blowing off) Now most repaired for testing

My brake pressure light on the computer and the flashing red light near steering column is indicating brake issues
At the wheels - there is no fluid coming from new hoses, and only some from old lines not replaced.
It seems that there is just no fluid pumping to these wheels.

Have had engine running for many minutes and cannot determine why no fluid when I open up any lines. No brake pedal pressure

I am assuming the brake pump (where is this located) is not functioning - or something else

Before I go stripping pipes and hoses, I would like to get information from those here. I have the standard tools, but can arrange to loan items from service persons in this arena if I really had to!!!!

My questions today is to determine the following

Is the brake pump located on RHS in Engine bay?
Does it get an auxiliary feed from Hydraulic pump to boost it (My schematic book shows it - but I do not understand how it works), so I am assuming it should supply some oil to the wheels?

ANy information or assistance would be appreciated

BTW - I am located in Victoria Australia

Note: - At present the unit is parked some 100m from my shed. If I can get around the brake pressure issue - I was hoping to drive it to the shed to commence the restoration. I was thinking of fooling the unit that brake pressure is good - to drive to shed and commence the strip down/repairs. If anyone here can assist in this option, I would be keen to try

Cheers

Matbro steering issue

Hi lads. Just wondering my uncle owns a matbro telleram telescopic loader. The steering is a bit stiff and it takes a large number of turns to go from lock to lock. I think the reason for this is somebody replaced the steering orbital unit before with 1 from a farm tractor. i think it might be the wrong size. would a smaller or larger orbital unit make for more turns from lock to lock? im guessing a bigger orbital unit would make faster.
