544b wheel loader transmission problem

Hello,

I've got an older 544b and am having some of the same problems I've been reading about in this forum. I can load 2 or 3 loads with it and it works perfectly, then when it gets warmed up it starts to slow down allot and the steering gets alittle goofy. Some one suggested the pump was bad, but which one do you figure it is, the charge pump in the trans or the pump on the back of the machine? If someone could help me with this with an opinion that would be great.

1973 John Deere 544a transmission pressure question

I recently purchased a 544a loader from a state surplus auction. I had the John Deere tech over to the house to give it a quick once over. I found out that around 1500 hrs ago this loader had a complete inframe done with a new head replacement. That all he could really tell me so i have read the posts here in the forums and started getting worried about the transmission problems this loader commonly has. I took it on my own to replace the pressure gauge and i dropped the filters. I was nervous as i cut them open. i found when i spread the filter out just wet oil soaked filter element paper. I breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Now for the operating pressures when idle the pressure is right around 157 psi. when i shift to forward or reverse gear the pressure drops momentarily to around 80 psi then snaps right back. Same when i shift into high range same pressure fluctuation. Now my concern is and i am not really schooled on the normal operation of this type of transmission when i step on the brakes the pressure drops to almost zero, but if i turn the clutch cutoff lever on, the pressure does not move when i apply the brakes. So my question is, Is this normal operation? I tried to ask around here and everyone here tells me to get rid of the dinosaur and buy one with a computer. Any info on this would be most welcome.

Hydraulic Rams

Hello forum, I have currently removed a hydraulic ram from my wheel loader to replace the pins, bushes and ram seal kit. The chrome shaft has a couple of minor imperfection score marks and a bit of very light rust in another small area. Can I polish the shaft with something to remove the slightly raised sections of the score marks and rust or should I leave it as it is?. The loader is for my own personal use for prospecting.

problems using scales on a cat 972 H

Looking for some help.

Have recently started a new job working in a quarry and part of my job is loading trucks. Now I don't have a problem loading trucks as have been doing this for a few years but,

This is only the second time I have had to use scales.

It's a load rite express system in a cat 972H. The problem is first up in the morning it loads heavy, eg on 12 tonne truck if the scales say 11.800 the real weight would be somewhere between 12500 and 13 tonne.
And yes I have checked that the bucket is empty and have zeroed the scales, and it's not just me. Another operator there used to have the same issue with the cat so he swapped to an older volvo and doesn't have the same issue.

Oh here's the kicker, after about 3 hours it all seems to work fine?

Any ides

Hough H100C, what engine does it have and what parts I can salvage

I bought this at auction.

While it is supposedly running, I highly doubt that anyone would want it as a working unit, so I am looking to partout and scrap.

Here are some pictures:

http://igor.chudov.com/tmp/Hough-H100C/

My first question is, can anyone identify the engine? I think that it has a IH logo, but I can be mistaken.

Second, what parts would be worth salvaging? Bucket? Engine? Thanks

Opinions on hrs on a loader.

I've been keeping an eye out for a loader to replace our old H90E. For my budget, I'm looking at Cat F series II, or G models. I've noticed alot of loaders that have 11k-17k hours on them. If you found a clean, and well maintained loader would the amount of hours be a deterrent? Dozers with 11k+hrs, I would probably pass on, but a excavator wouldn't bother me to much.

The reason why I'm thinking Cat, is the local dealer is 15 minutes away, vs. about an hour for Deere, or Komastu.

Any thoughts and opinions would be great. CJ

My 621D brake pedal takes a lot of foot pressure to apply the brakes. Brake pressure tests good but hard to push pedal far enough to get the pressure. If someone has any ideas that would help please send them. Thanks!

Clark 175B Brake Issues

Hello forum, I am currently trying to get the seized brakes working on a Clark 175B wheel loader which have not been working for a number of years. Before I take the wheels off and rebuild the seized brake callipers, I am working through the air and hydraulic system which also ha been disconnected at the compressor. We went out this weekend and started on the repair of the seized brakes by removing the wet tank, the emergency tanks, the quick release valves, the foot control valves, the power clusters, the check valve and associated hoses. During the this removal, black oil was found in some of the pipework and fittings. Do any readers know where this oil may have come from?.

driving up a hill?

Hi Everyone, quick question. I have a 2011 John Deere 244J compact wheel loader, top end on flat ground 20 mph +/-, when I start to go up an incline or hill, it slows down. Should I be "playing" with the gas pedal or just keep the pedal to the metal so to speak?

Bucket drift problem 980G Cat

This is a 980 G 2KR03066 front end loader new in 1999 and now has a bit over 26,000 hours.

Well just as I was leaving work operator comes in and says the bucket is drifting, says if he is holding loaded bucket in air while waiting for next truck to back in the tilt cylinders will start drifting. Like I said I was walking out he door at the end of the day so did not have chance to see how fast this was happening and won't be back on the job till Monday morning. Both tilt cylinders were resealed a couple months ago and he did not mention any external leaks.

This machine has the control valve up front with the solenoid controls. I love how every time you remove the cover over the valve it is buried under a foot of wet dirt and stone, not the best location for that wiring and those solenoids! Just wondering if someone has a good place to look, trying not to think too much about it over the weekend:D But I'll at least take a look on SIS and see what I find!

I have a 244J John Deere around 2000. got on it one day and give it gas and between 500 and 1000 rpm it would jump or hesitate, at full throttle ran fine, fuel pump had a small leak, next day would not start, so I put a new fuel pump on, and turns over no start, I ordered a Technical Manual from JD and the best part is it does not have anything to do with the motor, so i am ordering that manual, 300$ for both better than spending money guessing. thanks for your help,
also it will thy to start with start spray but will die,:Banghead

volvo l 180 third valve install

I have a volvo L180 wheel loader. If i read the spec sheet right all of the loaders come with a 3 spool hydraulic valve. Does anyone know what is involved in setting up the 3rd spool to operate? I have lift and bucket curl and dump on the first two levers. I would like to setup the 3rd valve to run a sweeper attachment for cleaning trailer tops. Any input? I was wondering if volvo sells a kit with everything you need or if you have to buy things a piece at a time?

thanks!

no electric power

Hello all
I have a 79 JD410D backhoe and when using it the other day it shut down as if running out of fuel. Found to have no electrical power on anything. The battery is good and I can turn it over by jumping the starter but it will not start. Checking the power from the battery to the starter is good and then to one of the breakers but not the other. The breaker that has power into it has a ground coming out, using a meter across the breaker reads the battery voltage.

Suggestions?

Thanks
